Brick Reilly

February 4, 2019 By patrick@educatedclimber.com 6 Comments

Brick Reilly is a phenom. Diagnosed as profoundly deaf at the age of 2, he has overcome adversity and carved out a niche for himself, as an accomplished competition tree climber, entrepreneur, fitness advocate, and all-around badass. In this conversation we talk about the challenges of being born deaf, how a cochlear implant changed his life, being a daredevil and how he found his way into the trade, his obsession with fitness, lunchtime grinds, competition climbing, his side business, writing on his blog, mentors, and much, much more. I know you guys are going to get a lot out of this one!

There simply is no more-comprehensive reference book in our field. Simply put, if you work with trees, you need this book! Check out “The Fundamentals” today, at www.educatedclimber.com/shop

Thanks, Patrick, for bringing these arborists from social media on to tell their back stories! I really enjoy your podcast. Keep up the great work. It is a real service to the work of tree care?

Thanks for this podcast – I wish hearing people understood that being Deaf was something Deag people needed to get over or overcome – most people who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing don’t see it as somethng they need to “get over” and their ASL language is rich and unique 🙂 I’m working towards interpretership to bring the tree and the deaf communities together so maybe we can talk about that one day 🙂

I don’t think the title of your article matches the content lol. Just kidding, mainly because I had some doubts after reading the article.
